Booking.com Shortchanged My Refund by $15 on a "No Prepayment" Hotel
I made a reservation for a hotel stay in Italy on October 29 through Booking.com on July 26, 2026, which was clearly marked with "free cancellation" and "no prepayment." However, a few days later, I received an email from Booking.com and realized my card had been charged entirely without my knowledge. Since I booked relying on the "no prepayment" condition, this unauthorized charge seriously upset me, and I canceled my reservation on August 6.
After the cancellation, I checked my bank statements and found a difference of roughly $15 between the amount charged and the amount refunded. While $345 was charged to my card on July 26, only $331 was refunded on August 5. I contacted Booking.com via email regarding this discrepancy, but I have yet to receive any response.
Furthermore, I believe Booking.com intentionally makes it difficult to contact them about such issues. There is no customer service phone number available to call from Turkey, and support or complaint tickets can only be opened through a specific reservation, making it extremely frustrating to get help for a canceled booking.
I refuse to accept an unauthorized charge on a "free cancellation" and "no prepayment" booking, nor do I accept being shortchanged by $15 after canceling. I demand that the full difference between the charged and refunded amounts for reservation #6502227756 be credited back to me without any further deductions, and I expect a formal written explanation regarding this ordeal.
