Booking.com Refuses Refund After Hotel Forces Second Payment
On December 14, 2025, I made a reservation through Booking.com for a property called Porto Sharm, with confirmation number 6728708374, and paid $41 to Booking for this reservation. When I arrived at the hotel at my reservation time, the receptionist told me there was a water outage in the room and said I needed to cancel my Booking.com reservation. They claimed they would arrange a room themselves and charge me again separately.
After I insisted, they arranged a different room and collected $66 in cash from me, but they did not provide any receipt or proof of payment. The property was extremely disorganized and unprofessional, with what seemed like a doorman handling transactions rather than proper hotel staff. They told me that the $41 I paid through Booking.com was not their concern and that I needed to contact Booking.com directly for a refund.
Despite contacting Booking.com customer service for nearly a month, I have not received any response, and I am unable to reach a Turkish-language support phone line. During this process, neither the hotel nor Booking.com has taken responsibility. My request to Booking.com is the refund of the $41 charged to my credit card for a service I was never able to use.
