On September 1–2, 2025, I booked a stay at Safestay Bratislava Presidential Palace Hotel through Booking.com (Confirmation No: 65863*). Despite being clearly a male guest, I was allowed to book and pay for a women-only dorm room without any warning or restrictions on the website.
After a long journey, I arrived at the hotel only to be told at reception that I could not be accommodated because the room was strictly reserved for women. I was shocked and left stranded without a place to stay.
I paid €8.10 (≈398.83 TL) by credit card. Although the booking was listed as non-refundable, the main issue here is that Booking.com sold me a room I was not even eligible to use, with no notice or warning during the reservation process. I canceled the booking within just 5 minutes of realizing this problem, but my payment was still not refunded.
I contacted both the hotel and Booking.com, but the property rejected my refund request, leaving me unfairly charged for accommodation I could never use.
I demand a full refund of my payment and expect Booking.com to take responsibility for allowing such misleading and discriminatory reservations on its platform. This situation caused unnecessary stress and left me without proper lodging.
