On April 29, 2025, I made a reservation at the Courtyard by Marriott Cologne through Booking.com with the clear condition that I would pay at the property and could cancel for free until June 21. I canceled my reservation on May 22, well within the free cancellation window. I even received a confirmation email stating that the cancellation was processed with no charge.

But on June 6, in the middle of the night, I was charged €144 (₺6705.77) without any warning, notification, or request for verification. This goes against the cancellation policy and is completely unacceptable.

I messaged Booking.com via their platform to dispute the charge. Two days later, they responded asking me to upload a document, but the link they provided led to a message saying, “We didn’t receive your reply in time,” even though I replied immediately. I then contacted the hotel, and they confirmed they never received any payment and that Booking.com was responsible.

Since then, I’ve been stuck in a loop—no one responds, and the Turkish customer service line leaves you on hold for hours claiming all agents are busy. This is not how a reputable platform should treat its users. I demand a full refund of ₺6705.77 immediately and clear accountability from Booking.com. I shouldn’t have to fight this hard over a cancellation that followed the rules.
