Booking.com Agrees to $50 City Tax Refund But Keeps Delaying Payment
For my stay in Barcelona, I booked Hostal Aslyp 114 through Booking.com for July 11–14, 2026. At the time of booking, the total amount—including taxes and all fees—was charged to my credit card. Despite this, when we checked into the hotel, the front desk charged me an additional $50 for the 3-night city tax.
I reported this issue to Booking.com on July 27, 2026, along with my payment records and receipts from the hotel. Following their review, Booking.com explicitly confirmed via email that I was in the right, that the city tax should be refunded to me, and they even sent an update message regarding my reservation.
However, nearly a month has passed and the refund has still not been issued. Every time I contact customer support, they delay the process with different excuses, reassuring me that the refund will be made, yet taking no concrete action. My main frustration stems from both paying double for the city tax and Booking.com failing to execute a refund they already acknowledged and agreed to in writing.
Despite providing all necessary documentation on time and following up repeatedly, I find it unacceptable to be kept waiting for so long. I demand an immediate refund of the $50 city tax that you have already agreed to in writing, and I request that this matter be resolved without any further delay.
