I Paid Extra City Tax Despite Booking.com Listing a Lower Rate for My Hotel

I booked a hotel through Booking.com, and the listing clearly stated that the city tax would be €18. However, when I arrived at the hotel, they demanded €27 — a full €9 more than what Booking.com had communicated at the time of booking.

The hotel staff told me this was Booking.com’s mistake and that if I had a problem, I should take it up with them. I had no choice but to pay the extra amount on the spot just to be allowed to check in. Since then, I’ve contacted Booking.com multiple times, submitted my payment receipt, and explained the situation thoroughly — but I’ve received no response whatsoever.

For such a large, global company to ignore a legitimate customer complaint and fail to take responsibility for misleading price information is extremely disappointing. I used to book all my accommodations through Booking.com, but this experience has made me lose trust in the platform.

I’m requesting a refund of the ₺ amount equivalent to €9, and I expect Booking.com to stand by the information they publish and support their customers when problems like this arise. This needs to be resolved immediately.
