Airbnb Host Pressured Me to Cancel Confirmed 1-Night Stay at Hermes Villa & Bungalow
Yesterday, I made a one-night reservation at Hermes Villa & Bungalow through Airbnb. The system allowed me to choose and pay for a single night, and my booking was confirmed without any issue or warning. However, shortly after, a representative from the property contacted me via Instagram and insisted that one-night stays are not allowed, telling me to cancel the reservation myself.
I explained that the Airbnb platform clearly permitted one-night bookings and that I didn’t wish to cancel. Despite this, the representative repeatedly pressured me to cancel, which I found uncomfortable and unprofessional. Soon after, I noticed that the listing price had increased, making me feel even more manipulated and mistreated.
I kept all message records and even contacted Airbnb support about the situation. Ultimately, I was forced to cancel the reservation—thankfully without a financial loss—but the entire process was unclear, unfair, and frustrating. As a paying customer, I felt undervalued and disrespected.
If one-night stays are not allowed, the platform should not permit them at all, and hosts should not be allowed to pressure guests into cancellations after confirmation. I urge Airbnb to review this host’s practices and make the necessary system improvements to ensure future guests are not misled or mistreated in the same way.
