Turkish Airlines Refuses My Return Flight
On June 6, 2023, I purchased round-trip tickets for two adults from Istanbul to Manchester on July 5, with a return on August 10. I paid a total of 762.32 GBP for these tickets. However, due to a court summons on July 13, I wanted to reschedule my July 5 flight. When I contacted the Turkish Airlines call center, they demanded an additional 23,000 TL to change the date to July 16. I decided to book new one-way tickets with another airline for 7,000 TL. When I called Turkish Airlines again, they informed me that I would not be allowed to board the return flight on August 10 because I missed the outbound flight. Is this even possible? What happens if I miss a flight? Shouldn't I be able to use my return ticket on another flight? Did I really pay 762.32 GBP (approximately 25,000 TL) for nothing? I insist on using my return ticket on August 10, and if Turkish Airlines refuses, I demand a full refund.
