Turkish Airlines Refused to Allow My Cat in the Cabin
Turkish Airlines did not allow my cat, which was in a box, to be in the cabin even though I had already bought a ticket for it. They said the carrier must be a soft bag, not a hard case. However, they did not inform me of this requirement when I purchased the ticket for my cat. I found out about this one hour before my flight departure at the airport. As a solution, they took the animal to the baggage compartment and charged an additional fee. After my complaint, they refunded the second fee they had charged. However, to get this money back, I have to either go to their offices or fill out a form on the Turkish Airlines website and upload a photo of my card. In other words, getting that money back is also a hassle. Cats are animals that get stressed easily, unfortunately. My cat, which traveled in the baggage compartment for nearly two and a half hours, has not yet recovered. When I bought the ticket, I liked that they advertised themselves as 'animal-friendly Turkish Airlines.' It turns out they are only animal-friendly in words. I do not think they care about animals at all. I have traveled with my cat on other airlines, and none of them had an issue with the cat being in a box. Thank you, 'animal-friendly' Turkish Airlines.
