Turkish Airlines Refused My Cat Entry to the U.S. Despite Confirmed Regulations
Yesterday, I was scheduled to fly from Istanbul (IST) to Miami (MIA) with my cat. However, Turkish Airlines refused to allow my cat on the flight, despite U.S. regulations not requiring a Titration Test for entry. I had already confirmed this with a Turkish Airlines customer representative on more than three occasions, and they had noted this in their records. When I arrived at the check-in counter, the staff refused to let me board with my cat, despite my having confirmation from the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Agriculture and Forest General Director of Food and Control in Kartal, Istanbul, stating that no Titration Test was required. The staff were extremely rude and unhelpful and even forgot to give me my boarding pass. They blamed me for the situation and made me cry for hours. As a result, I now have to fly back to Turkey next month, which involves a 12-hour journey each way, and have a Titration Test done in order to bring my cat back with me. I want to warn others about my negative experience with Turkish Airlines and their poor customer service.
