Turkish Airlines Flight Issue with Carry-on Artwork
On August 5th at 14:00, I had a flight from Istanbul to Izmir. I arrived an hour before the flight and while checking in and handling my baggage, I had a painting with me. The staff member named Mr. Y** told me that I couldn't bring the painting on board. I suggested putting it in the baggage.
My baggage hadn't been sent yet, and the baggage tag hadn't been attached. He told me that wouldn't be possible and said he would mark me as a late arrival, then tore up my boarding pass and threw it away.
When I asked why he did that, he said he took the initiative and then changed his mind. I repeatedly said I could throw away the painting and that I needed to board the flight, but he insisted I couldn't and left me stranded.
The more frustrating part was that I bought a ticket for the next flight and traveled with the same items without throwing anything away or changing anything. This means I could have boarded the flight as I was. Mr. Y** made me wait there for 6 hours unnecessarily by saying I couldn't board the flight in that condition. It was disappointing to see your staff insist so strongly on a matter they were not informed about, which does not reflect well on your company.
