Turkish Airlines Flight Delay and Missed Connection
I was traveling with my two children to Amsterdam via Turkish Airlines (THY) with a connecting flight. Our first flight was delayed by 1 hour. Upon landing, I received an email and message stating that we had missed our connecting flight. I wanted to fly the same day, but we were denied due to no available seats. We were directed to a hotel. During this time, we searched for the hotel desk in the vast Istanbul Airport until our feet were sore. By the time we reached the hotel, it was dark. Since our flight was connecting, we did not have our luggage with us, meaning we had no personal belongings. We went to a hotel in a neighborhood in Istanbul that I was not familiar with, and naturally, we couldn't leave the hotel. The hotel food was very bad, and my children only ate bread. The flight ticket I bought to avoid trouble and arrive quickly with my children turned into a complete nightmare. THY's poor planning of the connecting flight caused us to miss our flight. We spent two days of our short vacation on the road. We had purchased 3 tickets, but I couldn't even find space in the overhead bins for my laptop because most passengers had filled them with large suitcases and bags. When I complained to THY, they did nothing. They even told me to read the rules for baggage complaints, almost making me feel guilty. I think THY should follow their own rules better. Additionally, other passengers with similar issues mentioned being called and having the necessary actions taken. Does THY treat passengers differently?
