On May 1, 2024, my disabled mother na*****, my son, and I, her companion S*** b****, arrived at the THY check-in counter at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport to fly to Istanbul Airport with the reference ticket tbykfm. The THY check-in staff informed us that my mother could not board the plane because she did not have a doctor's report stating that there was no objection to her flying.
When I purchased this ticket from Istanbul, no THY staff provided any preliminary information about needing such a report. Even the THY staff who arranged our wheelchair service did not mention any report requirement for my disabled mother. I explained that on December 31, 2023, my brother Cafer Bilgic took my disabled mother from Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport to Ankara Esenboga Airport with a**** without any report being requested, and my other sibling O*** b**** had taken my disabled mother from Istanbul to Dalaman Airport multiple times with Pegasus without any report. Despite this, they refused to allow my disabled mother to board the plane, causing us significant distress and shock with their actions and statements.
They directed us to Biz Klinik Saglik Egitim Danismanlik Turizm A.S. within Izmir Airport to obtain a doctor's report. I managed to get the report in 5 minutes for a fee of ₺2310, which allowed us to board the plane. Due to the lack of preliminary information provided to us, we experienced severe distress, shock, and crisis at Izmir Airport. My disabled mother and I were left in a dire situation.
I am filing a complaint against THY staff for their incomplete, incorrect, and misleading information and guidance, which resulted in this negative experience. If THY staff had informed us about the need for this report in advance, we would have prepared it for free beforehand. Due to the undeserved treatment and actions we faced, I am requesting a refund of the ₺2310 we paid for the doctor's report. Sincerely.
