THY Check-In Issue for Disabled Passenger

THY caused a check-in issue for a disabled passenger. On 04.06.2024 at 01:30, my disabled father had a flight from Istanbul to Samsun. Around 00:30, I arrived at Istanbul Airport and informed THY at the gate about the need for a wheelchair. I sent my daughter to the THY counter for check-in, but unfortunately, the staff member said she couldn't process it without seeing the patient and delayed the wheelchair by 10 minutes. By the time it arrived and we passed through security, time had passed. At 00:45, they didn't allow check-in even though the flight was delayed by 30 minutes. It wasn't our fault; sometimes we wait for hours inside the plane, but the system doesn't allow a 2-minute delay for a disabled passenger and cancels the ticket. A company named THY shouldn't cause such trouble for a disabled Turkish citizen. Even if late, the arriving passenger is disabled. Procedures should be flexible for a disabled citizen. If the check-in process for the disabled was available online, this wouldn't have happened. Because of the stubbornness of the staff member at check-in, they canceled the ticket, and I had to buy a new one. Even the person issuing the new ticket said, 'Brother, the flight is already delayed, why didn't they process your check-in?' He tried to help but couldn't do anything. While one staff member tried to solve the issue, another didn't process the check-in for the disabled passenger. Their defense was, 'You should arrive 2 hours early' or '1 hour early.' Because the check-in process is long. Additionally, they took the 75-year-old disabled person with injured legs out of the wheelchair. It's a shame. I tried hard not to fight. (Everyone is a potential disabled person.) How will you make a disabled person wait for 2 hours at Istanbul Airport? They are already in distress. And now, we have to be there 2 hours early for check-in. What a defense. May God not put anyone in THY's hands. They are canceling people's tickets like this. Otherwise, how will they pay the ₺1,200,000 salary? Even foreign airline companies operate better than THY. And then they say 'Support national companies.' If a Turkish company does this to a disabled Turkish citizen, what hope do we have?
