Turkish Airlines Damaged My Baggage and Rejected Compensation
Hello,
After my Mardin-Istanbul-Paris flight with THY on 07.07.2023, I received my luggage in a damaged condition at Paris CDG Airport. I submitted an online request through THY's website to cover the damage.
Following the evaluation, it was stated that I needed to report the damaged baggage to the Lost and Found office at the airport's baggage claim section. Due to the absence of this report, my compensation request was denied.
I believe the evaluation was not detailed enough. Additionally, I understand that there was insufficient communication with the relevant office at the airport. Before leaving the airport, I contacted the office and spoke with a lady in charge. She mentioned that she could not take any action and that I needed to file a complaint or compensation request online. When I asked about the necessity of filing a report, she said it was not required. She advised me to take photos of my luggage and submit the request through the online platform.
Therefore, I do not accept the rejection of my claim for the damage caused by THY due to procedural reasons. I believe that a review of the security camera footage at the airport, if deemed necessary, will prove my case.
