Turkish Airlines Damaged My Baggage

Hello, on 30/01/2024, I had a flight with THY from Dublin to Istanbul. After disembarking from the plane and while still inside the airport, I realized that my baggage was broken when I retrieved it. When I asked the staff there for assistance on what to do, they handed me a paper and told me that I could also apply for damage compensation online, with steps outlined on the paper. They even mentioned that the situation could be verified through the airport's camera recordings from the night connecting 30/01/2024 to 31/01/2024. Based on the staff's instructions, I submitted an online application with all the required documents. However, today I received a response from THY stating that my damage would not be compensated because I did not report the issue to the airport's baggage damage section and no report was filed there. If this was the case, why did the staff give me a paper and tell me that the online application was the same? Or why did THY respond this way to avoid compensating the damage? Ultimately, my baggage is now unusable. I am complaining about this situation and demand compensation for my damage from THY.
