I joined a tour departing from Istanbul. I live in Izmir. Both flights are with THY. I called customer service to arrange the connection, but they said it could be done at the counter. The connection from Izmir to Copenhagen was made. On the return trip, the ordeal began. They said they couldn't make the connection and that I would have to pick up my luggage in Istanbul and then go to the THY counter to check it in again. The Copenhagen flight was delayed. It landed at 00:30, and with customs and luggage, the stress was at its peak. I wasn't going to complain, but when I called customer service for another issue and mentioned this, I got furious. We pay for two flights, the tour company arranges the connection, and for the ticket I bought for ₺4000, they want an additional €180. I can't make the connection. Believe me, we can barely afford to travel. I am against unnecessary expenses. In the computer age, this arbitrary practice causes a lot of stress and makes me a laughingstock in the eyes of others, who say I should have arranged the connection. I expect action to be taken against the person who didn't make the connection in Copenhagen and compensation from THY to restore my faith. I want a gesture of apology as compensation. I am sure this incident will be forgotten, but if I didn't write this, I would feel bad for not warning others. Additionally, I couldn't buy the items I wanted from the duty-free shop.
