Issue with My Mother's Ticket on Turkish Airlines Amsterdam-Istanbul Flight
On December 1st, we flew from Istanbul to Amsterdam, and on December 10th, we were supposed to return from Amsterdam to Istanbul. We discovered an error in my mother's (G*****) surname on her ticket on December 10th in Amsterdam. We passed through Istanbul airport without any issues on December 1st and boarded the flight. My mother went to the THY counter with her passport, and the check-in process was completed without any problems. Two THY employees approved the ticket, and we flew to Amsterdam without any issues at boarding. However, on December 10th, when my mother was returning from Amsterdam, they did not accept her passport information and did not allow her to board the flight. She was left without a ticket just an hour before the flight. She had to buy a new ticket for that flight, which cost three times the price of the original ticket. This means she could fly with the same passport but was not accepted on the return flight. We don't understand this absurdity. THY employees never mentioned any issue, and we enjoyed our vacation as if everything was fine. I wonder why those employees are getting paid. You cause last-minute stress for people. If there is an issue, warn us while we are still in Istanbul, or don't let us board the flight at all, but at least don't let us suffer in a foreign country. What if we didn't have enough money to buy a new ticket? I reported this to THY, but they responded negatively. If I weren't facing financial difficulties, I wouldn't be fighting this hard. I've been emotionally and financially drained for a week because of THY. I call customer service, and they don't care; it's like a joke. You are only good when selling tickets, but there's no support afterward. I believe this inconvenience is entirely due to the negligence of THY employees, and I request a refund for the return fare of the original ticket.
