Delays and Turbulence Issues on Turkish Airlines Flight TK1354
On November 4, 2023, I boarded the Turkish Airlines flight TK1354 from Luxembourg to Istanbul at 11:00. We were kept inside the plane for approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes without any announcements or updates. Later, an explanation was given that the plane had a flat tire. Throughout the delay and the flight, the captain barely communicated with us. When we were 15 minutes away from landing at Istanbul Airport, the plane encountered turbulence. The experience was terrifying, and there was no calming or informative announcement from the captain. The captain attempted to land at Istanbul Airport three times. Thankfully, we landed safely, but I cannot understand why we had to go through such fear repeatedly instead of diverting to another airport. The turbulence lasted for about 20 minutes without any informative or calming announcements. Inside the plane, people were screaming and vomiting; the situation was frightening. The captain spoke only 7 to 10 words throughout the flight. In summary, we narrowly escaped a disaster. I demand compensation for the 4 hours and 30 minutes delay at the airport (where we were kept like sardines without any explanation) and the terrifying turbulence (turbulence can happen, but normally there are announcements to inform passengers). I am aware of the EU Regulation 261/2004. While reserving my legal rights, I will pursue legal action if there is no positive response from you. This situation is unworthy of a reputable company like Turkish Airlines. Good day.
