SunExpress Charged Me at Check-In, Even for My 1-Year-Old Baby Without a Seat
On April 20, 2025, I flew with SunExpress Airlines on the direct XQ827 Sarajevo–Izmir flight at 12:00 PM. When I arrived at the airport to check in, I was shocked to be told I had to pay €5 per person just for completing the check-in process at the desk. I was informed that if I had checked in online, this charge wouldn’t apply.
When I offered to check in online right there, they told me it was no longer possible, even though I hadn’t boarded yet. Worse still, I was asked to pay the same fee for my 1-year-old baby—who didn’t even have a seat and would travel on my lap. That is completely unreasonable.
We didn’t have any euros with us, and they refused to accept Bosnian Marks, so we had no choice but to pay with my husband’s credit card. I have flown many times before and have never encountered such a policy. Charging passengers because they didn’t check in online is one thing—but charging a baby for simply being present without occupying a seat is beyond unfair. SunExpress, I demand that you reimburse the unjust charges and review this misleading and unfair check-in policy.
