Rude Behavior and Lack of Knowledge By Starbucks Staff

At the Mersin Mezitli Marsis Starbucks branch, the cashier’s attitude and behavior towards me were completely unacceptable. First of all, the staff member asked for my ID, which is not within their authority. Only public officials are entitled to request identification. For a cashier or security staff to demand a customer’s ID is both unlawful and highly inappropriate. Furthermore, after I made a cash payment, the staff member immediately disinfected their hands in front of me, as if I were “dirty.” This was extremely offensive, rude, and disrespectful. On top of this, the cashier showed a lack of knowledge regarding the Trendyol discount campaign. I explained several times that the discount is applied at the end of the transaction, yet the staff member insisted—rudely and stubbornly—that I had to deposit money first, claiming the coffee was not at the discounted price. Even though I mentioned that I had used this discount successfully before, the cashier refused to acknowledge it and continued to argue in a harsh tone. In a corporate brand like Starbucks, cashiers should treat customers respectfully and be properly informed about the promotions they handle. Asking for ID without authority, behaving in a demeaning way, and misinforming customers about discounts are unacceptable. I request that appropriate warnings and disciplinary actions be taken regarding this employee, and that staff receive proper training in both customer communication and knowledge of promotional campaigns.

On 23.09.2025, at the Marsis Starbucks branch in Mezitli, Mersin, I once again encountered very serious disrespectful and unlawful behavior, despite having experienced a similar situation before. About two weeks ago, cashier Rabia improperly asked for my ID and approached me in a harsh manner. When I reported the incident to the store manager, I received an apology and was told that the staff would be warned. However, after this incident, the disrespectful attitudes of the cashier and those around her towards me continued at the branch.

Yesterday, a male employee named Gaffar, who was a cashier, shouted at me in public, raised his hand, and behaved in a humiliating manner. He told me, 'The problem is you, then don't come here,' and threw me out. As a woman, being humiliated and insulted in public affected me deeply.

As both a woman and a customer, I absolutely do not accept these behaviors in a service I have paid for. After the incident, I reported my complaint to the store management and customer service.

My request is that the camera footage be reviewed, the necessary disciplinary actions be taken against the relevant employee, the employees be dismissed, and that I receive an official apology and a written response.
