Sixt Rental Car Broke Down After 6 Hours – Charged Full Day Despite Mechanical Issue


I rented a car from the Sixt Rent a Car Trabzon office and drove only about 80 kilometers when the "engine damage risk" alert flashed for 2 seconds. Thinking it might be a temporary issue, I continued. However, about ten minutes later, the alert reappeared. I contacted Sixt's roadside assistance, and they advised me to wait for 10 minutes and try again. If the alert persisted, they instructed me to call them. After half an hour, the alert returned, and I called again. An engine repairman urged me to stop immediately, and the car was to be towed away. The call center executive promised to arrange another vehicle for me. I waited for the vehicle tow truck for two hours but also called the Sixt office, who told me they couldn't send a new vehicle. Instead, they asked me to take a bus to the Trabzon bus station (130 km away), and then a cab to their office, where they would provide another vehicle. This ordeal was a frustrating and annoying two hours of phone conversation. After my vehicle was towed away, I had to resort to hitchhiking in the rain since there were no available buses. Sixt left me stranded, and I wholeheartedly do not recommend this company. Best Regards.
