Sixt Rental Car Broke Down After 6 Hours – Charged Full Day Despite Mechanical Issue


I’ve rented from Sixt Rent a Car three times, and every experience has been a disappointment. Each time, the vehicle I reserved was unavailable, despite assurances from customer service. They claim to offer an upgrade, but it’s often a downgrade in quality.
For my most recent rental on 01.11.2024 at Çukurova Airport, I booked a Toyota Corolla Hybrid for 16 days, paying extra for the hybrid option. Before pickup, I contacted customer service to confirm availability and was told there was a 90% chance I would receive the reserved car. However, upon arrival, they informed me no hybrid cars were available. Instead, I was offered an SUV, which was cheaper than my initial reservation during booking.
Reluctantly, I accepted the vehicle, but it was so uncomfortable I attempted to exchange it the next day. While staff like M*** and H**** were helpful and professional, the replacement vehicle still wasn’t equivalent to what I initially reserved.
As someone who frequently rents cars in Turkey due to work, I can confidently say that Sixt’s policies and procedures are unacceptable. Their customer service promises are empty, and their inability to provide reserved vehicles is consistent. I cannot recommend Sixt to anyone. If you value your money and time, avoid Sixt Rent a Car.
