Qatar Airways Refund Issue – Paid Extra for Flexible Ticket, Received Partial Refund

I purchased a round-trip Qatar Airways ticket from Turkey to Malaysia, opting for a flexible return ticket since I anticipated the possibility of canceling it. The total cost was $1,112: $350 for the outbound flight and $762 for the return flight, which was advertised as fully refundable.
Today, when I canceled the return ticket, I was informed that I would only receive $293 as a refund. This means I effectively paid $819 for one flight. To put this into perspective, I could have purchased two tickets for that amount.
I’m writing this complaint to inform others. Qatar Airways’ policies are misleading. If you don’t truly need a refundable ticket, don’t pay extra, as the refund process is not what it seems. I urge the company to improve transparency in their pricing and refund policies.
