In September 2024, I purchased a 1-year membership with Open English and paid the full amount upfront. However, on September 17, 2025, I noticed that ₺2,255.62 was charged to my credit card without my authorization or prior notice.
I never agreed to or was informed about automatic renewal of my subscription. At the time of purchase, there was no clear disclosure that my membership would continue automatically or that my card would be charged again. Moreover, I did not receive any email, SMS, or notification regarding this renewal.
I contacted customer service once by phone. I was told my membership had been automatically renewed monthly, that it would end next month, but that the unauthorized charge would not be refunded. This is unacceptable, as I did not consent to recurring payments, nor did I authorize Open English to store and reuse my credit card information.
I formally request a full refund of the ₺2,255.62 that was charged to my card without consent. If this issue is not resolved promptly, I will have no choice but to escalate the matter through CİMER and the Turkish Consumer Arbitration Committee (Tüketici Hakem Heyeti), as this constitutes an unauthorized transaction and a violation of consumer rights.
I expect urgent action and a clear resolution.
