I signed my child up for a trial class on Novakid, and shortly after, I received a promotional email. The email talked about premium and standard membership options, so I reached out to their customer service on WhatsApp to learn more. Instead of explaining the packages clearly, they pushed me to make a payment without detailing what I was buying. After payment, I logged in to choose instructors—only to find that nearly all available teachers were from the Philippines or East Asia, which I wasn’t looking for.

When I tried to cancel the membership, customer service abruptly ended the conversation, and there was no way to cancel the plan from their website. I found myself locked into a six-month subscription with no way to stop the automatic renewal. Even worse, they market a “14-day money-back guarantee,” which is completely misleading. Once the payment is done, they’re done talking.

If I wanted a Filipino teacher, I would’ve just hired a local caregiver. Their standard plan doesn’t include the type of teacher I wanted for my child, and when I asked about switching to premium, they doubled the price. This is absolutely deceptive. I now have to cancel my credit card and lose a month’s payment just to stop this mess. Cambly, by comparison, is far more professional and transparent. Novakid needs to fix this shady business model and offer real support—not just until payment is received.
