HDI Insurance Pickup Truck Policy Error Blocks Renewal Process

On 29.06.2025, I purchased a compulsory traffic insurance policy from HDI Insurance through Sigortayeri for my vehicle, which is registered in the license as a pickup truck for private use. My policy number is 268501988***-1. However, since my vehicle is recorded as a passenger car in the system, I am currently unable to renew my policy. To correct this error, I was informed that they want to issue an endorsement 14 days before the policy expiry date, retroactively from the original policy start date, and charge me a price difference of ₺9,000 as additional premium. Sigortayeri’s website allows this incorrect entry and HDI Sigorta’s system approves it; despite this, I do not accept that the cost of this error is being imposed on me as the policyholder. Moreover, although there is no passenger car version of this model on Turkish highways, the fact that the systems allow such a selection is clearly an error originating from the companies. Throughout the policy period, I did not have any accident within the scope of the policy, I did not incur any damage, nor did I cause any damage to third parties. Despite this, requesting an additional premium of ₺9,000 solely due to a system and transaction-related mistake is unfair. When I discussed the issue with Sigortayeri, I was told that they had also spoken with HDI Sigorta and conveyed to me the response that “we will not correct it without collecting the ₺9,000 premium difference.” For all these reasons, although I have no fault or mistake, I request that this additional amount demanded from me be cancelled and that the type record of my vehicle be corrected as a pickup truck free of charge and without any additional premium being reflected. I also request that my policy renewal process be carried out without creating any victimization and that I be informed in writing about the outcome.
