HDI Insurance Fails to Refund Unused Auto Insurance Premium

On December 3, 2025, due to the sale of my vehicle, I canceled my mandatory traffic insurance policy that had been issued by HDI Insurance through SBK Sigorta Aracılık Hizmetleri Ltd. Şti. My policy number is 279241010954-3; my previous license plate was 35 ** 756, and my new plate is 35 ** 1843.

Although the policy was canceled, the premium refund for the unused coverage period has not been paid to me, even though approximately two months have passed. Throughout this process, I have received inconsistent and contradictory information from both HDI Sigorta and SBK Sigorta Aracılık Hizmetleri Ltd. Şti. Initially, I was told that since my credit card was closed, the refund would be transferred to my IBAN account. Despite providing my IBAN details, I was later informed that the payment had been returned to the bank. However, there is no record of any refund at the relevant bank.

Although I was told on February 17, 2026, that the refund had been processed, no payment receipt has been shared with me despite my request. On February 18, 2026, I was asked once again to provide my IBAN information, unnecessarily prolonging the process. The failure to provide a bank transfer receipt proving that the payment was made indicates that the refund has not actually been completed.

Under applicable regulations, when a traffic insurance policy is canceled, the premium corresponding to the unused period must be refunded to the insured. Despite this legal requirement, the process has not been finalized, which has caused me financial harm.

I request that the premium refund for the unused coverage period be paid to me immediately, that a bank transfer receipt be provided if the payment has indeed been made, and that this matter be conclusively resolved. I do not accept the statement that “the refund has been made” without documented proof. If this issue is not resolved promptly, I will file a complaint with the Insurance Arbitration Commission and other relevant authorities. I request that my grievance be addressed urgently.

There cannot be such an indifferent agency and insurance company. Both Sbk Insurance agency and Hdi Insurance are extremely indifferent.

I cancelled my policy, and the premium refund for the unused days was not made. It was said that the refund was made on 17.02.2026, but the bank receipt was not shared. On 18.02.2026, IBAN was requested again and the process was delayed. Finally, it was reported that the refund was made, but I received neither an apology nor an explanation.
