Europcar Skopje Withholds $573 Security Deposit After Damage-Free Rental
My friend rented a Renault Clio from the Europcar branch at Skopje Airport in Macedonia through Booking.com on March 6, 2026, and returned the vehicle without any issues on March 7, 2026. A deposit of $573 was collected during the rental and charged to their Garanti Bank card.
When the deposit was collected, they were informed that it would be refunded within 10 business days at the latest. However, despite nearly a month and a half having passed, this $573 deposit has still not been credited back to the card. The Europcar Skopje Airport branch could not be reached, and when contacting Booking.com, they simply stated, "We are looking into it," but provided no concrete update or refund.
Despite the vehicle being returned on time and damage-free, we cannot accept that the $573 deposit taken from my friend's account is still being withheld. We demand that the $573 deposit collected from the Garanti Bank card on March 6, 2026, be urgently refunded without further delay.
