I Face Hidden Charges from Europcar Serbia — $370 Insurance Fee Without Notice
Between September 29 and October 4, 2025, I rented a Skoda Fabia from Europcar in Belgrade, Serbia, and paid for it in advance. However, when I arrived to pick up the vehicle, I was given a Renault Clio instead. I had paid $230 for the 6-day rental, but during pickup, I was charged two separate deposits totaling $920. After returning to Istanbul, I received an invoice of $370 for an additional insurance fee.
I was never informed about any extra charges or insurance fees at the time of booking, and there was no mention of a $370 insurance charge in the rental agreement. Had I known about it, I would not have rented this car. This situation occurred completely without my knowledge or consent.
Although I submitted a written complaint to Europcar customer service, I have not received any response so far. I am requesting a refund of the $370 unfairly charged insurance fee and would like to warn other customers to be careful when renting through Europcar due to this lack of transparency and hidden charges.
