CarJet Rental Car Refused in Antalya Due to Failed €1,200 Card Pre-Authorization

2

On 4 September 2026 I arrived in Antalya to pick up a rental car that I had booked and prepaid through CarJet. The booking was made in the name of Mr. Evgenii S*** for a Fiat Fiorino, with the rental period from 4/09/2026 to 18/09/2026, and the local supplier was EXPRESS CAR RENTAL at the location outside the airport. According to the booking conditions, the car rental company had to make a pre-authorisation on my Bank of Scotland Visa credit card to block a deposit of about €1,200. My credit card had a limit of £2,500 at the time, so the available credit was sufficient for such a transaction. However, when the employee of EXPRESS CAR RENTAL attempted to process the pre-authorisation on their terminal, the system did not accept the card and the pre-authorisation was not completed. Because of this, the company refused to give me the car, even though my booking was confirmed and fully valid. Afterwards I contacted my bank, Bank of Scotland, and requested clarification. I was informed that on their side there were no visible declined or completed attempts for such a pre-authorisation transaction at that date and time. This means that, from the bank’s perspective, no request from the rental company’s terminal or payment system ever properly reached them, and it remains unclear whether the problem was caused by the terminal, the payment processing system of EXPRESS CAR RENTAL, or by some internal restriction related to how they carry out pre-authorisations. As a result, I was left without the car I had booked and paid for, through no fault of my own, despite having a valid credit card with a sufficient limit. I consider this situation unacceptable and very inconvenient, as I planned my trip based on the confirmed reservation. I kindly request a full refund of all amounts I have paid in relation to this booking, since the service was not provided due to a technical or procedural issue on the side of the rental company or their payment system, and not because of any problem with my card or my financial situation.
