Avis Bergamo Gave My Reserved Car Away After a Payment System Error
On July 2, 2026, I booked a four-day Avis car rental at Bergamo Airport in Italy through Enuygun. My reservation number was 80b316. Although the reservation was confirmed, I was left without a vehicle when I arrived to pick it up.
At the Avis office, I was told that they could process the rental using my debit card, and they attempted to place a deposit authorization on it. However, the transaction could not be completed because of a technical problem with their card terminal. When I contacted my bank, I was told that no authorization request had been received. I also added a different virtual card in an effort to resolve the problem, but the transaction still failed. Because of the time lost during this process, the vehicle reserved for me was rented to another customer, and I never received a car.
As a result, I was unable to use the car rental service in any way. The vehicle was never provided to me, and the situation resulted entirely from a technical problem outside my control. Despite this, an Enuygun call center representative dismissed my complaint by saying that I should have had a credit card with me and offered no solution. I have previously rented vehicles many times in Turkey and abroad using a debit card. I specifically selected Avis because the company accepts debit cards.
For all these reasons, I am requesting an immediate and full refund of the amount I paid for the car rental service that I never received.
