I Rented a Car on Booking in Lesbos But Couldn't Use It Due to Card Payment Issue
I booked a rental car through Booking.com for use in Lesbos (Midilli) from July 20 to July 22, under reservation number 650384989. When I arrived at the rental location to pick up the car, they required a deposit via credit card. However, my Troy card was not accepted for the transaction. This was unexpected—if certain card types aren't accepted, Booking should clearly indicate that at the time of booking.
There were no issues using my Troy card to make the reservation on Booking.com, so I had no reason to expect it wouldn’t be accepted at the rental counter. Due to this technicality, I was denied access to the vehicle I reserved and paid for, and the car rental provider refused to offer a refund.
This has left me completely stranded and disappointed. I am requesting Booking.com to take responsibility and refund the amount paid or provide a proper resolution. Consumers should not have to pay for a service they are never allowed to use due to unclear policies or hidden restrictions. I expect a prompt and fair solution to this matter.
