I booked a 10-night stay in Athens, Greece through Booking.com, expecting a relaxing vacation with my wife and daughters. But the moment we entered the apartment, we were horrified to find a 4 cm-long bug crawling on the bed. My family was terrified. I immediately took pictures and sent them to the host, who sent someone over to clean. Ironically, the cleaning girl was more scared of the bug than we were.

We didn’t feel safe or comfortable staying there, so we left and contacted Booking.com for a refund. I submitted a complaint and even provided clear photographic proof. Their response? A laughable 10% credit of what I paid, valid only until 2028. That’s it.

I reported the issue on day one, and they still sided with the property. I’ve used Booking.com many times without issues, but this experience completely shattered my trust. Clearly, if anything goes wrong with a listing, Booking.com won’t support you—even when you’re in the right.

I’ve sent the photo of the bug to Booking.com already, and I’m including it here as well. If you’re considering using their service, be cautious. They don’t protect their customers as they claim to, and I will never book with them again. I expect a full refund, not a useless coupon.
