Booking.com Hotel Unilaterally Demands Price Hike on Reservation 5416****28

On July 16, I made reservation number 5416****28 via Booking for a stay accommodating three people. On September 15, the hotel contacted me via WhatsApp, stating that an error had occurred on their end, that I needed to cancel the reservation, and that they had sent a free cancellation request. I explicitly stated that I did not wish to cancel the reservation.

Following this, the hotel adopted an aggressive tone and claimed they could provide a room if I paid 1,000 Euros instead. I rejected this proposal because it was painfully obvious they were attempting to hike the price due to peak season, and I informed them that I would resolve the issue through Booking. As can be seen from the written communication, the hotel is trying to dump its own error onto the consumer and is attempting to inflate prices rather than honor the existing booking at the agreed rate.

During this process, despite calling Booking customer service repeatedly, I was completely unable to get a response by phone, and my written messages went unanswered. Due to the hotel's constant pressure and persistence, I was forced to cancel my reservation just two days before the check-in date. I am currently struggling to find a comparable hotel for the same dates even at prices around 600 Euros, and my financial hardship persists. I demand that my existing reservation be reinstated under the original contract conditions and price, or that the price difference be covered, and that a formal written response be provided following a proper investigation of this hardship.
