Misleading Ads, Unsafe Living Conditions, and Zero Help From Airbnb
I made a reservation for a cozy, air-conditioned, boutique-style house in Kazdaglari from June 28th to July 1st. Traveling with my child, we endured a grueling 5-hour journey from Istanbul to reach the house located in Kurşunlu Village. To my dismay, upon arrival, it became evident that utilizing the house and its garden in the summer heat was impossible. The house was incredibly small and unbearably hot, with the garden exposed to scorching sun, devoid of any walkable areas. It was a compound with 3-5 other houses. Accessing the property by car was extremely difficult, with roads filled with large stones suitable only for tractors. Neither could we go anywhere without a car nor risk taking it out due to the possibility of tire punctures. Under these conditions, it was simply unfeasible to stay in the house with a young child. In total, I paid 8807 TL, but as we couldn't use the property upon arrival, we requested a refund. To our dismay, only 1200 TL was offered as a refund. Airbnb's support team was utterly unhelpful, refusing to publish my reviews and not providing any assistance. I've ended up sending a substantial amount of money to a complete stranger, 7600 TL, and the host refuses to refund it. We didn't even get to use the property or receive any services, and on top of that, the host claims to be the victim. I've initiated legal proceedings and will fight for my rights in court, refusing to give up no matter what. I want everyone to know about this experience. Airbnb is definitely not an organization that helps you assert your rights; they only want positive reviews. They admitted to not publishing my negative review because I didn't stay in the house, yet if I could have stayed, I would have extended my stay. This system solely benefits the hosts and Airbnb; if any problems arise, the host doesn't provide support and ends up playing the victim!"
