I Face Refund Delay with Airbnb Erdemli Apartment Reservation
I booked an apartment in Mersin/Erdemli through Airbnb under reservation number HMTPQ5TQQR, paying a total of ₺8,068.94. Everything seemed fine at first, but just six days after my free cancellation period had expired, the host suddenly demanded an additional ₺3,500 payment. I considered this an unfair and unacceptable request and immediately reported the situation to Airbnb. After my complaint, Airbnb confirmed that I was entitled to a full refund and ruled in my favor.
However, I was told that it would take 10 days for the refund to reach my account. This delay completely ruined my family’s vacation plans. We were supposed to leave the next day, but I had to cancel the car rental, explain to my children that the trip was no longer happening, and face the disappointment of wasted planning. As a father of three, this situation has caused me emotional and financial stress that could have been avoided with a faster resolution.
I am requesting that Airbnb expedite the refund process and ensure that hosts cannot make last-minute unauthorized payment demands after the cancellation period ends. This incident highlights a serious gap in consumer protection, and I expect Airbnb to address it promptly so other families are not left in the same situation.
