On August 26, 2025, I made a reservation through Airbnb for accommodation in Didim, Aydın, Turkey, under reservation number HMCDZEK95S. I paid a total of ₺15,900.50 in one installment by credit card. Two days later, I had to cancel the booking. During the cancellation process, the system clearly showed that only ₺3,399.25 would be deducted as a service fee. However, I was later informed that the actual deduction amounted to ₺12,501.25, and no refund has been issued yet.
This practice violates Article 54 of the Law on Consumer Protection, which requires clear and accurate pre-contractual information. The lack of transparency regarding cancellation policies and deductions undermines consumer choice and causes unfair financial loss. When I contacted Airbnb customer service, I was told that the higher deduction was correct, but at the time of cancellation, I was never properly informed of this.
I consider this a breach of transparency and good faith principles. I demand the immediate refund of all excess charges beyond the ₺3,399.25 service fee that was explicitly displayed during cancellation. Airbnb must honor the terms shown to the consumer at the time of transaction and ensure such misleading practices are not repeated.
