Turkish Airlines Passport Matching Fee of $45 for Toronto Flight

January 8, 2024 9:48 PM4

I purchased tickets from Turkish Airlines for myself and my spouse for a flight to Toronto on March 22, 2024. I filled in all the required information for myself. Since my spouse is not a Turkish citizen, a Turkish ID number was not requested, and strangely, passport information was also not required. Immediately after making the payment, I called Turkish Airlines customer service. The representative on the phone insisted that we forgot to enter the passport details. They mentioned that without passport matching, there could be issues at the airport. They offered to perform this service for a fee of $45. How does this make any sense? I am already paying for the ticket, and now they are asking for an additional $45 due to a system deficiency. Upon researching, I found that I can add the passport information for free during check-in at the airport. My ticket PNR number is raumnl.
