On July 31st, my spouse and I had tickets for a THY flight from Prague to Istanbul. We arrived at the airport early, but we were informed that the flight was overbooked. Since we had no connecting flights, we were offered accommodation, meals, and €400 compensation per person as the distance exceeded 1500 km, with the possibility of flying the next day. I initially declined as my spouse had work the next day, but they insisted.
I agreed only if they could guarantee no issues with the promised services and the next flight. They assured us, stating there was no reason not to trust a global company like THY. We were made to wait at the airport for 3 hours until the flight departed. Once they secured their arrangements, they gave us a meal voucher that barely covered a single meal, so we had to pay for part of the meal out of pocket.
Upon returning to Turkey, we requested compensation, stating that we would not accept any other offer. However, they are now trying to settle the issue by offering us 20,000 miles instead. I've seen numerous complaints about this issue. I hope a large company like THY is not misleading its customers in this manner. We kindly request a prompt response and the promised compensation.
