I Experienced Inconvenience Due To Overbooking on Flight to Skopje

I bought tickets from THY to Skopje, but they took three out of the last five passengers and left my spouse and me behind. With 25 minutes left, they kept us there for 10 minutes and then said they couldn't take us because we were late. While one person tried to take us, another said there were no seats available. There was only one seat left. They directed us to the care desk and told us to buy a new ticket with a penalty. Their first move was to convince us that we were late. When that didn't work, they tried to convince us to buy a penalty ticket. After talking to over 20 people from different flights in the same situation, we learned about our rights and that it was an overbooking issue. Later, they watched the camera footage and admitted we were right, offering €400 compensation. Our flight was at 19:00, but they arranged a ticket for the 07:00 flight the next morning. They said they arranged a hotel and then retracted the compensation offer. By this time, 5 hours had passed, and the hotel they arranged was an hour away. We had to wake up at 2:30 AM and get on the shuttle at 3:00 AM. Did we go to the hotel just to sleep for an hour and a half? I don't even want to mention how dirty the hotel was. We also stayed hungry for 10 hours. We wasted money on the hotel and missed a Saturday holiday. As if that wasn't enough, we arrived exhausted on Sunday for our holiday.
