Turkish Airlines Made Me Miss My Flight After an Announcement

On July 9, 2025, I had a Turkish Airlines flight, VF3008, with ticket number 2042422552116, departing from Rome Fiumicino Airport with a connection in Istanbul and final destination Ankara. In Rome, I handed over my checked luggage and continued with only my carry-on. Upon arriving in Istanbul, I checked in my carry-on as well. Shortly before the connecting flight, my name was announced and I was instructed to return to the baggage drop-off point. I went there immediately and told the Turkish Airlines staff that my flight was boarding and I might miss it, but they reassured me that the gate had been informed and they would wait. After handing in my bag again, I went down to the boarding area, only to be told that the doors had closed and I could not board. I had a verbal exchange with the gate staff, but they refused to let me in. When I returned upstairs and explained the situation, the staff responded, “We made the announcement, they should have taken you.” In short, I missed my flight because of a Turkish Airlines announcement made in my name. Mr. O*** (phone: 0507 996 **) from the upper floor staff can confirm this. I was later told that due to the disagreement at the gate, I would not be allowed on the flight, I couldn’t be rebooked, and I might be blacklisted. A staff member returned later and said I must either buy a new ticket or accept being blacklisted. I refused. As a result, I missed my 18:55 Istanbul–Ankara connection due to no fault of my own. My name was called, I went where I was told, and that led to missing the flight. Had I ignored the announcement, I would have been home with my family. Meanwhile, my luggage was sent to Ankara while I was left behind in Istanbul. Since I was not rebooked, my belongings were sent on a different flight to Ankara. On the morning of July 10, 2025, at 06:04, I received a call from the Turkish Airlines International Lost & Found Office at 0312 398 22 ** informing me that my items were in Ankara. I was clearly subjected to an unfair experience and respectfully request that Turkish Airlines take responsibility and resolve this situation properly.
