Turkish Airlines Ticket Issue on Istanbul-Mardin Flight

On 03.07.2024, I purchased round-trip tickets from the official Turkish Airlines website for the Istanbul-Mardin flight (TK2676) departing at 11:20 and returning on 06.07.2024 from Mardin-Istanbul (TK2679) at 20:10, for myself and my spouse.

Despite arriving at Istanbul Airport at 10:40 on 03.07.2024, I was informed by the check-in counter staff that I could not check in because the baggage acceptance had closed. I was directed to the ticket sales counters for assistance.

At the ticket sales counter, I requested to purchase a ticket to Şırnak Airport, the nearest airport to Mardin, to avoid any inconvenience. However, the ticketing agent, without my knowledge, consent, or any information, canceled my return ticket from Mardin to Istanbul on 06.07.2024 and only issued a ticket from Istanbul to Şırnak. I was not informed about the cancellation of my return ticket.

I discovered this issue at 18:45 on 06.07.2024 when I attempted to check in for my flight at Mardin Airport. The staff informed me that there were no available seats on the flight and that I could only be placed on a standby list, which did not guarantee a seat. Additionally, I would have to pay if a seat became available.

When I explained the situation to the ticket sales staff at Mardin Airport, they told me that the ticketing staff at Istanbul Airport had caused this issue and advised me to file a complaint. They provided me with an A4 paper containing the ticket numbers related to my situation. Furthermore, during a recorded phone call with Turkish Airlines customer service on 06.07.2024 at 18:52, it was acknowledged that I had been wronged and that the actions taken were incorrect.

As a result, I was stranded at the airport and unable to return to Istanbul. Due to the incorrect actions and lack of information provided by Turkish Airlines staff, my spouse and I faced numerous difficulties, including finding accommodation. The staff's inability to communicate effectively has caused significant inconvenience. I intend to pursue all my legal rights through my attorney regarding this matter.

Although I doubt it, if Turkish Airlines, which claims to be a world-renowned brand, addresses my complaint and resolves my issue, it would be appreciated. However, at this point, I do not believe my inconvenience can be fully rectified, and I doubt I will receive any response.
