Turkish Airlines Ignored My Concerns About Missing Items from Luggage
I traveled on July 15, 2024, on flights TK1040 OTP-IST and TK2184 IST-ESB with ticket number THY 2352231285675/1 and baggage tag number TK803010. Upon arriving home, I noticed that some of my personal belongings were missing from my luggage. I reported the issue through the Turkish Airlines website, and a case was opened with file number 2024151843. In my report, I emphasized that my primary concern was not compensation for the lost items, but rather to clarify what happened. However, the relevant department insisted on forwarding the matter to the compensation department. This department then requested receipts, invoices, or credit card slips for my purchases. Even though they should understand that it is not feasible to provide receipts for items purchased 6-8 months ago, they continue to state that compensation will only be provided if these documents are submitted. My intention is not to claim the value of the items. My sole purpose is to uncover if items were taken from my luggage, to ensure that those responsible are held accountable, and, most importantly, to prevent Turkish Airlines customers from encountering such issues in the future. It is hard to understand why Turkish Airlines is still insisting on receipts for compensation rather than addressing the root cause of the problem!
