As an Erasmus student, I purchased a ticket from Turkish Airlines for a flight to Budapest, Hungary on 31.08.2023. I thoroughly reviewed all the details and the only information provided was that changes could be made for free.
Due to a delay in my visa, I had to postpone my flight. However, when I checked for a new date, 01.09.2023, the system asked for a price difference of ₺6000. I contacted customer service, but the representative only mentioned that the price difference between the two tickets was required and did not offer any assistance.
If this is the case, why isn't it explained in more detail during the ticket purchase process instead of just stating 'free changes'? I feel completely misled by a company I trusted.
Unfortunately, to reduce the price difference, I rescheduled my ticket to 07.01.2023 with a price difference of ₺2600. I am both inconvenienced and out of pocket, and now I will be arriving late as my education is starting.
