1. On February 2023, I purchased two flight tickets from Stockholm (Arlanda) to Ankara (Esenboga) via a connecting flight on the THY website, paying a total of ₺5,112. I also made seat selections at the time of purchase for the flight scheduled on August 30, 2023.
2. On August 9, 2023, I received a message from THY stating that the flight had been rescheduled from August 30, 2023, to September 1, 2023, and that one of the seats I had selected was canceled. I was given the option to either accept the flight change or cancel the tickets. Since I had already made plans and related payments months in advance, I had no other option but to cancel the tickets. I canceled the tickets.
3. Despite canceling the tickets, the ₺5,112 I paid six months ago has not been refunded to my credit card even after three days. When I called THY's relevant department, I was informed that the refund process takes 2-7 business days and that I should call again if the payment is not made after 7 business days.
4. Since all my plans and related transactions were made for August 30, 2023, I now need to pay over ₺10,000 for two tickets if I want to book new tickets for the same day. As of today, THY charges ₺6,943 for an economy class ticket for the flight on September 1, 2023.
5. THY is causing inconvenience to passengers who book their tickets as early as six months in advance.
6. Instead of refunding the ₺5,112 paid six months ago, THY should compensate for the equivalent economy class ticket price today, which is ₺6,943. However, they are delaying the refund process by stating that it takes 2-7 business days due to their own irresponsibility.
7. I condemn THY and leave this behavior to the judgment of passengers who fly or will fly with THY.
