Flight Delay and Missed Connection Experience
On September 2, 2023, I traveled from Rome to Ankara via Turkish Airlines for a business trip. However, due to a delay in departure from Rome and extended taxiing time at Istanbul Airport, I missed my connecting flight to Ankara. When I approached the transfer desk, I was rebooked on the 23:50 flight instead of my original 16:10 flight. This forced me to wait for about 8 hours at Istanbul Airport with my three-year-old son and my spouse.

Despite having no responsibility for missing the flight, Turkish Airlines' ticket policy left us stranded at the airport. When we inquired about our rights, we were told we could have a hotel room but would need to return shortly for the next flight. The meal voucher provided was only valid at places like Burger King, Sbarro, and Pidem, which are not suitable for a three-year-old. When we asked if we could use the lounge services for better food options, we were rudely told that it was not possible for us.

To make matters worse, when we finally boarded the 23:50 flight, we discovered that seats had been assigned separately for each of us, including our three-year-old child. When I requested a seat change, I was told that paid seats could not be reassigned. I couldn't understand how Turkish Airlines could prioritize profit over the safety and comfort of a young child. Eventually, another passenger agreed to switch seats, allowing my son to sit with his mother. I wonder if Turkish Airlines has a corporate solution for such scenarios or if they rely solely on the goodwill of passengers to cover up their operational shortcomings.

How can Turkish Airlines cause such passenger inconvenience and yet handle the compensation process so poorly?
