Hello,
I am writing to share my bad experience and file a complaint regarding a ticket we purchased from Turkish Airlines for the Buffalo, US to Ankara, Turkey flight on September 30, 2023.
My spouse, our 9-month-old baby, and I had booked a flight from Buffalo, USA to Ankara, Turkey with Turkish Airlines on September 30. Unfortunately, our flight from Buffalo was delayed, causing us to miss our connecting flight with Turkish Airlines from NYC to Istanbul.
We were sent to NYC on a subsequent flight from Buffalo. However, upon arriving in NYC, we were informed by Turkish Airlines that they could not accommodate us on the JFK-Ankara flight and that there was nothing they could do. They advised us to contact JetBlue, stating that it was their responsibility. After lengthy phone calls with JetBlue and extended discussions with the Turkish Airlines ground staff, we were told that they could only send us from NYC to Istanbul but not to Ankara. Despite numerous attempts to resolve the issue through JetBlue and Turkish Airlines support lines, we could not rectify the situation.
As a result, we had no other option but to board the next Turkish Airlines JFK-IST flight to Turkey. We arrived in Istanbul and had to rent a car to travel from Istanbul to Ankara (ESB). We had to drive to Ankara, exhausted and sleep-deprived, extending our travel time to over 48 hours and facing significant difficulties and safety risks due to the long hours of driving without adequate rest.
Given these circumstances, I filed a complaint regarding our experience and requested compensation for our material and emotional damages. This journey was not only extremely challenging but also raised serious safety concerns for my family. However, Turkish Airlines has refused to compensate us for our losses.
