Turkish Airlines Flight Change Issue on TK2597
Our planned flight with Turkish Airlines on the evening of October 29th, TK2597 from Antalya (Alanya) (GZP) to Istanbul at 22:55 (Ticket No: 2352223367085/86/87/88), was changed by the company to TK2593 at 09:40 on the morning of October 29th. We had booked this flight as a family for a 3-day end-of-season vacation. We had made our hotel reservations, and our children had already started dreaming about it. A change that moves a 12-hour flight earlier in a 3-day vacation constitutes a significant alteration. When this change was communicated to us via SMS and email by the company, we called them. We made a very reasonable offer: "Since your evening flight from GZP (Alanya) was canceled, you have many flights from the other Antalya airport in the afternoon, fly us from there." Even with this suggestion, we would still be at a loss (Hotel reservation cancellation fees, missed early booking opportunities due to lost time, etc.). They told us that we could only rebook from Alanya a day before or a day after and that they could not change the route. Unfortunately, with our children's school and our work, we didn't have such a luxury.
In a previous experience with the same company, even with a 5-minute time change, they had granted us full change rights (route + date). This is what Turkish Airlines' corporate policy should entail. It seems that the big company is now chasing small calculations.
I wanted to share this grievance so that everyone is aware of such an injustice.
