Turkish Airlines Flight Cancellation Led to 18 Hours of Airport Struggle
Hello, on the night of 28.10.2023 at 01:05, the Cyprus flight was canceled without any reason. When we called customer service, we were told to come to the airport and get standby tickets for other flights. We traveled from Tekirdag to the airport and after waiting for 5 hours, we spoke to the staff about the 06:50 flight and were told there were 2 empty seats, and we were given a paper. We then got our tickets. When the boarding pass was given, it was 6:15. When we went to the gate at 6:35, we were not allowed to board the plane. They told us to wait for the next flights. We were not allowed on the 10:00 and 12:20 flights either, despite being told there were no available seats. Even though there were 17 empty seats on the 16:30 flight, we were still not allowed to board. We were stranded at the airport for 18 hours. We spent over ₺2000 on food and water from our own pockets, even though we had meal vouchers and hotel rest rights, which were never mentioned to us. We were practically left to suffer on chairs. Due to THY, our hotel reservation was also wasted, costing us ₺23,500. We were affected in every way, both financially and psychologically. The staff were extremely rude, and there was clear discrimination between Turkish and foreign passengers. I demand compensation for our material and moral damages and for the necessary actions to be taken.
